The demand for Connecticut pistol permits and guns skyrockets. Cam Edwards speaks to Brian Owens, member of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and owner of North Cove Outfitters in Saybrook, CT, about the reasons behind these climbing numbers. He explains that, for example, 36 percent of enrollment is now made up of women in the North Cove Outfitters classes. Moreover, Owens says that he is seeing many first-time gun owners in the store, and similar statistics have been seen across the state. The state issued 7,741 pistol permits from January through May, a 90 percent increase over the same time period in 2008.
