Since the only gun shop in D.C. went under due to the burden of strict gun laws, the District faces lawsuits if citizens do not have a new option for their firearms purchases. D.C. Council Member Phil Mendelson is planning to offer an emergency bill that would allow the District to serve as a firearms dealer for the purpose of transferring guns to residents.
