House Bill 243, a measure that would establish a mentored hunting license for prospective hunters and youth who want to try their hand at hunting before they have completed a hunter education course, was passed by an overwhelming majority in the House and now heads to the senate. With this legislation, apprentice hunters would have to be directly supervised in the field by a mentor who is at least 21 years-old and who holds a valid hunting license. Cam Edwards discusses the bill with NRA-ILA Hunting Policy Liaison Lacey Biles, noting the excellent safety records in states that have already implemented similar laws.
