The Swiss government has rejected a people's initiative that aimed to ban more than one million weapons from Swiss households. Launched in February by the centre-left Social Democratic Party and a number of pacifist organizations, the initiative called for army weapons to remain in barracks, as opposed to the hands of a people's militia, and for a national gun registry to be created. It also sought to ban the private ownership of some firearms such as automatic weapons and pump-action shotguns. Attorney Steve Halbrook speaks with John Popp and Cameron Gray about the victory for the Swiss people.
