On this edition of Civil Rights Roundup, NRA Deputy General Counsel Stefan Tahmassebi talks with Cam Edwards about the right to carry concealed firearms on college and university campuses-an issue that is a hot topic of debate in many states this year, though most universities remain "gun-free zones" as of now. Tahmassebi explains that people with concealed-carry permits have already passed background checks and are considered "responsible" enough in all other places. He also notes that college shootings have all occurred on "gun-free" campuses, and he shares a story about a shooting rampage that ended when students ran off campus to retrieve their legally stored guns from their cars and returned, holding the shooter at gunpoint while he surrendered. In the time it took for them to retrieve their guns, the shooter shot six people and three died. Originally aired 3/9/2011.
