On tonight's Civil Rights Roundup, NRA Deputy General Counsel Stefan Tahmassebi talks to Cam Edwards about the oral arguments in US Supreme Court case McDonald v. Chicago. Second Amendment advocates are arguing that the right to bear arms is incorporated against the states by means of the Fourteenth Amendment, but there is debate over which clause calls for incorporation. Tahmassebi explains that the Court seems to have rejected the argument for the Privileges and Immunities Clause, but they reacted favorably to the argument for the Due Process clause delivered by the NRA's attorney, former US Solicitor General Paul Clement. Only one justice appears to have been convinced by the primary argument supporting the Chicago gun ban.
