Former death-row inmate charged with kidnapping and assault. On today's Deal of the Day, Cam Edwards reports that Jerry Douglas Case, 52, of Gastonia, North Carolina, is accused of kidnapping William Payne, Payne's daughter and two granddaughters, and forcing them to drive him around North and South Carolina before the family eventually escaped. Case, who was shot by sheriff's deputies while trying to escape, had previously been on death row for murder, but after re-sentencing was released on parole after 22 years.
