On this edition of Hero of the Day, Cam Edwards shares a story from Los Angeles, CA where a Southwest Airlines pilot held a plane for twelve minutes to get a grieving grandfather to see his dying grandson one last time. The 2-year-old child had been murdered by his mother's live in boyfriend and would be taken off life support at 9 pm that evening, but his grandfather was stuck in a long airport security line on his way there. Nancy, the grandfather's wife, called in to ask Southwest Airlines to hold the plane. The pilot then took the initiative to get off the plane so that it could not take off without the grandfather on board. Originally aired 1/12/2011.
