In Delaware, the Wilmington Housing Authority has withdrawn a blanket ban on firearms among residents of public housing, but the NRA is not planning to drop the issue. NRA Past President John Sigler tells Ginny Simone that while the Housing Authority claims to be responding to the US Supreme Court's decision in favor of the individual right to bear arms in McDonald v. City of Chicago, their retreat appears to be mostly an attempt to stop the NRA's lawsuit against them. The Wilmington Housing Authority is still examining measures that will limit the ability of tenants to defend themselves, such as the prohibition of guns in common areas. Additionally, Sigler points out that it is important for a court to rule against gun bans in public housing so that they can be stopped entirely rather than simply postponed.
