California's Microstamping Law was meant to go into effect nearly one year ago, but it still has not been implemented. Chuck Michel, attorney for the NRA and the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA), tells Cam Edwards that this is because the patent for the technology has not yet been made public. Moreover, lawyers for the NRA and CRPA Foundation have submitted another set of comments to the California Department of Justice ("DOJ") opposing DOJ's recently revised proposed regulations requiring new handgun models sold in California to be equipped with a "microstamping" mechanism.
