MT Pro-Gun Bill Signed

Montana gun bill for plain-view carry and self-defense signed into law. Montana State Representative Krayton Kerns comments on House Bill 228, which passed out of the House with a vote of 85-14 and the Senate with a vote of 40-10. The new law clarifies the right of law-abiding citizens to carry a gun in plain view and to present a firearm for defensive purposes when threatened, and removes the former "duty to retreat" clause from the state statute. Other provisions include expanding existing law to allow the use of force in defense of an occupied structure and preventing landlords and hotel operators from restricting self-defense rights.
