Dad fights plea bargains, daughter's killer was on probation. On tonight's Deal of the Day, Cam Edwards shares the story of a heroic Massachusetts father who is trying to keep plea deals out of violent criminal cases. Bill Belanger's daughter, Erin, was brutally murdered, along with five of her friends, when she called the police on Troy Victorino, a gang member who was squatting in her grandmother's residence. At the time, Victorino was on probation after having served only five years for bashing a man's head in with a walking stick. Belanger argues that what happened to his daughter might have been avoided had Victorino been convicted of the second-degree murder and grand theft charges in that trial, but both were dropped to make the deal.
