Worcester, Massachusetts will host the 8th Annual Goods For Guns Buyback program just before Christmas, offering $25-75 Walmart gift cards for citizens who anonymously turn in operable firearms. Over the last seven years of the program, they have "bought back" 1,620 guns, and yet, as Jim Wallace, executive director of the Gun Owners Action League (GOAL), points out: crime continues to rise in the state. Wallace also notes that many uneducated citizens turning in guns for the program, widows of gun collectors for example, are sometimes losing quite a bit of money by giving up hundreds and thousands of dollars worth of guns for these small gift cards.
