On this edition of Hero of the Day, Cam Edwards shares a story from Louisiana where Melvin Phillips walked into a convenience store with the intention of robbing the place. He asked for cigarettes then demanded all the money, showing a gun (that turned out to be a BB gun) and threatening to shoot. The clerk behind the counter complied with all of the robber's requests, but then the robber asked for more money when all the money had been given. Phillips became agitated, and looked as though he was withdrawing his gun, so the clerk pulled his gun from behind the counter and shot the suspect. Upon his recovery, Phillips will be charged with attempted armed robbery. Originally aired 9/7/2011.
