George Berry, a 21-year military veteran, had always wanted a Colt 1911 "like they had in World War II movies." At 71 years old, he bought one in an online auction and noticed that the name "John J. McGinty" was stamped on it. After some internet searches, Berry tracked down McGinty, a Medal of Honor recipient whose gun had been stolen while on display in 1978. Berry returned the firearm to a grateful McGinty and received in return an extremely rare Colt 1911 that had belonged to another Medal of Honor winner for his actions during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
