Canadian professor Gary Mauser talks to Ginny Simone about the bill to scrap the country's long gun registry, which has now passed its second hearing in Parliament. Opponents claim that the registry is valuable to the police, but Mauser explains that law enforcement officials mostly use licensing records to track guns instead of the registry. The long-gun registry itself is simply a wasteful device to keep a few bureaucrats employed, and other nations with similar systems are finding them to be ineffective as well.
