Act that could have banned most pocket knives has been scrapped. KnifeRights.org Executive Director Doug Ritter speaks by phone with Cam Edwards about a major victory for knife owners. A proposed redefinition of switchblades tied to the 2010 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act would have restricted any assisted-opening knives, but in the face of vocal opposition to the amendment, U.S. Customs has dropped it from their agenda. Now a new piece of legislation, Senate Amendment 1447, would permanently protect the status of pocketknives, and Ritter asks for grassroots support to ensure that it passes.
