Economist and columnist Dr. John Lott of BigGovernment.com, whose classic study More Guns, Less Crime is available in its third edition, talks to Cam Edwards about some of the statistics on shootings provided by anti-gun activists. Lott points out that while gun-control advocates cite a high number of arrests of concealed-carry permit holders for shootings, many of these are the results of acts of self-defense. Armed citizens are frequently held by police as part of a routine investigation and soon released. Lott explains that an insignificant percentage of concealed-carry permit holders have their permits revoked, which indicates that overall they constitute an especially law-abiding segment of the population.
