Senate File 2379, legislation that sets up statewide, uniform standards for concealed carry permits, has passed both the Iowa state senate and the House with overwhelming majorities. Under the stipulations of the bill, county sheriffs will no longer have the authority to deny gun permit applications to law-abiding citizens at their own discretion.
