In Illinois, citizens must obtain Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) cards administered at the discretion of the state police to own a gun. State Attorney General Lisa Madigan says the FOID list, which has been protected by the state police to this point, must be made public record. The police have fought her demand claiming that releasing the list would violate gun owners' privacy, but the attorney general's office has ruled that argument "invalid." Cam Edwards speaks with NRA Illinois Lobbyist Todd Vandermyde who says several bills are already "in the hopper" that would protect the FOID list, including House Bill 7, which will soon have its first committee hearing.
