On this edition of History File, Cam Edwards reads from a blog on the website Edutopia by a woman named Elena Aguilar. The entry, misleadingly titled "How to Engage Young Students in Historical Thinking," describes an exchange between the writer and her son when he proclaims, "George Washington was a good president." Aguilar apparently disagrees with this statement so strongly that she must "hold back a tirade" of opposition. According to Aguilar and many of the commenting readers on her page, Kindergarteners should be taught critical, multi-sided accounts of history to be sure it is as confusing as possible. "The article should be called 'I Hate George Washington, and I Want My Son To As Well," Cam quips.
