Fundraising event sheds light on media's political role. Jim Geraghty, writer of the Campaign Spot blog for the National Review Online, joins Cam Edwards in the studio to discuss the recent scandal involving the Washington Post. The newspaper's business office released fliers to lobbyists, offering them the opportunity to attend $25,000-a-plate dinners where they could discuss issues with current members of the Obama administration. Geraghty explains that the presence of standing officials would constitute influence peddling, and that whether or not any administration members had committed to attending, this practice demonstrates how far major media outlets will go to cozy up to the government.
