Frank Newport, editor-in-chief for Gallup Polls, talks with Cam Edwards about a new study that shows support for gun control is at an all time low. Only 26% of Americans surveyed answered yes when asked the question, "do you think there should or should not be a law that would ban the possession of handguns, except by the police and other authorized persons?" This is the lowest percentage of people who have answered yes to this question since Gallup started asking it in 1959. The poll also asked questions about laws concerning the possession of semi-automatic rifles as well as laws covering the sale of firearms in general. In both cases, the highest percentage of those surveyed answered that they favored the status quo. Originally aired 10/26/11.
