Legislative Chair for the Virginia Shooting Sports Association (VSSA) Dave Adams tells Cam Edwards that Virginia House Bill 1217 will go forward without language referring to a non-existent organization. An amendment passed in the Senate by NRA opponents called for the NRA's Eddie Eagle program to be supplemented with material from the National Crime Prevention Center. Since the intended National Crime Prevention Council does not have up-to-date materials anyway, Governor Bob McDonnell successfully amended the bill to strike this clause and leave firearms safety education in public schools to Eddie Eagle. Adams also mentions the success of House Bill 885, which will allow drivers without concealed-carry permits to leave firearms in storage compartments in their vehicles.
