Ohio news source claims that the felony gang charge is "not used a lot." On today's Deal of the Day, Cam Edwards relays a story from The Columbus Dispatcher claiming that the 10-year-old law has only been used in 116 cases in Franklin County over the duration of its existence, even though there are 80 active gangs in Columbus. Officials say that while it is not enacted often, it is frequently used in plea bargains with the threat of eight years imprisonment for gang affiliation at stake.
