Executive Director of the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) Richard Pearson tells Cam Edwards that as the US Supreme Court prepares to make a decision in the McDonald v. Chicago case, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is planning to emulate the District of Columbia City Council in continuing to pass restrictive gun laws. If the city's handgun ban is overturned, Daley may pass other measures, such as limiting the frequency of gun purchases and requiring gun owners to purchase liability insurance. Chicago police are also considering classifying homicides as either indoor or outdoor, and they would accept that there is little that they can do to prevent indoor killings. Pearson explains that while this sounds like an admission of support for residents' right to self-defense, it is actually a cynical attempt to improve the presentation of violent crime statistics.
