Columnist Mick Dumke of the Chicago Reader joins Cam Edwards by phone to discuss the news that two Illinois State Representatives from different parts of Chicago have requested that Mayor Richard Daley either call on the National Guard to fight crime in the city or present a better alternative. While Daley does not appear to be taking their appeal seriously, Dumke says that it is becoming more common for politicians to acknowledge that the city's handgun ban is not working to combat crime. He points out that violence is common in Chicago with or without guns, and hopefully national attention to the situation will encourage residents to sit down and think about solutions.
