Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff is requiring the MPs in his party to vote against a Conservative bill that would scrap the Canadian national long gun registry. The bill, introduced last year by Conservative MP Candice Hoeppner, initially passed with a 164-137 vote and now moves to the public safety committee for hearings before returning to the Commons for a final vote. Cam Edwards speaks with Tony Bernardo of the Canadian Institute for Legislative Action who explains that the bill still has a good chance of passing: only 8 of the initial 164 votes were liberals in the first place, and the conservatives have won more seats in the meantime.
