Democrat Conor Lamb ran as a centrist. He did not support Nancy Pelosi, he shot an AR-15 in an ad and his campaign manager, Abby Murphy, lives in the 18th district in which he ran. She knew the issues that mattered to voters who live there. Washington Examiner columnist Salena Zito says that's what made the difference.
