This week, Black Guns Matter founder Maj Toure is teaching a week-long firearm safety training class for at-risk youth at the YESPhilly Accelerated High School in North Philadelphia. It includes safety demonstrations, presentations on conflict resolution and teaching gun laws. NRA certified firearms instructors, civil rights attorneys and gun rights activists are participating in Q&A sessions. Maj says that teaching firearms safety in a public school hasn't happened in decades. He explains that teaching gun rights at the same time as de-escalation tactics is crucial for teens. It is better to educate than to take away rights. Maj praises the school for having the courage to welcome the course. Originally aired on Cam & Co 07/24/17.
