Since the beginning of 2017, 13 states have enacted laws to strengthen gun rights, and none has passed new gun control laws. The disastrous decision by the Hillary Clinton campaign to run on gun control is part of it, but the Independence Institute's Dave Kopel says that it is a long-term trend that began in the 1980s. Voters have supported more pro-gun candidates. States have followed the lead of other states that restore gun rights when they see the positive results.
