As the European Union struggles to come to a consensus on gun control rules, the Czech Republic has made clear its opposition, forcing an alteration that allows for the private ownership of semi-automatic firearms. The Czech interior minister is now proposing a constitutional amendment that would allow citizens to bear firearms to deter terrorist attacks. Dave Kopel of the Independence Institute says that the Czech Republic respects the right to private gun ownership. What they are proposing is to make armed citizens a part of their national defense.
