Campus carry comes to Kansas July 1, but not before Professor Deborah Ballard-Reisch of Wichita State University submits her resignation and retires She writes that "clear, open, critical discussion cannot take place in an environment of threat and fear." Cale Ostby, president of the Students for Concealed Carry chapter of the school, says that the professor has probably never talked to a person who carries concealed. She doesn't understand the issues or the success in other states. Kansas is a constitutional carry state. She has likely been interacting with armed citizens in everyday life. Cale says that students are carrying for self-defense, not to intimidate teachers or other students. A firearm is like a seatbelt; you don't use it unless you need it.
