Last week we reported that the New Jersey Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee would hold a hearing today on legislation that threatened every shooting range in New Jersey. It requires that every range and gun club verify that every user has a Firearms ID Card and a pistol purchase permit or carry permit. As most ranges are unstaffed or sporadically staffed by volunteers, it would shut down virtually all range shooting in the state. NRA Board Member Scott Bach of the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs reports that because of an overwhelming number of emails and phone calls from gun owners, the legislation has been removed from the committee’s agenda. It is not dead however; it is being held for consideration of gun owner concerns. Originally aired on Cam & Co 12/05/16.
