During the third quarter of 2016 ending in September, a record 25,474 concealed carry permits were issued in Ohio. That's a 59 percent increase over the same time last year. That means that one in sixteen adults in the state has a concealed carry permit. Linda Walker of Buckeye Firearms Association says that there are over 574,000 active permits and the state has reciprocity agreements with other states that recognize another 12.3 million more. She says that people are awakening to the idea that they are the first line of defense against crime or terrorism. Buckeye Firearms has been swamped with demand for training classes.
