Dr. Erik Gilbert is the associate dean of the graduate school and professor of history at Arkansas State University. He tells professors in Texas and elsewhere to relax about campus carry. Guns are already in the classroom. If those armed students did not overreact to the content of the course or to statements made by students and teachers, they are highly unlikely to do so when concealed carry on campus is permitted. Dr. Gilbert calls it a tempest in a teapot, with decades of classes without any fistfights, let alone firearms being drawn. Ironically, academics are far more concerned about a lack of student engagement, rather than too much engagement. Originally aired on Cam & Co 03/18/16.
