After years of a ban on hunting black bears in New Jersey, the state relented in a small way in 2014. Now, a new proposal would substantially increase the hunt in 2016. It would expand to more parts of the state, included a new six-day season in October, and open the hunt to bowhunters. NRA Board Member Scott Bach, executive director of the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs, welcomes the needed expansion to begin to properly manage the population of the dangerous predator, a public safety issue.
