The Washington, D.C. Police Union has called Police Chief Cathy Lanier “impotent and ineffective” in dealing with the city’s escalating violent crime. A weekend vote of union members showed 97.5 percent have no confidence in Lanier. Cherylyn Harley LeBon, contributing fellow at the National Center for Policy Analysis, discusses crime in the nation’s capital, and the lack of leadership to address it. She says that there has been a 43 percent increase in the homicide rate, but Mayor Muriel Bowser has voiced her full support for Chief Lanier. Originally aired on Cam & Co 08/31/15.
