On this edition of Hero of the Day, Cam Edwards shares a story from Redding, CA where 66-year-old homeowner Donna Hopper shot and killed a man who was attempting to break in to her home. Jesse Theis, who was released from the Shasta County jail due to overcrowding that very morning, attempted to break in to Hopper's home through a bedroom window. Hopper was able to call 911 and fire a few warning shots, and Theis fled. He then returned a second time, attempting to climb in the same window. Hopper fired again and struck him in the chest. Prosecutors have said the shooting was justified. Originally aired 10/21/11.
