On tonight's Deal of the Day, Cam Edwards reports that Douglas Allen Patterson of Hayward, California dodged a stiff jail sentence by agreeing to testify against the other suspect in a robbery and kidnapping case. By laying the blame on Joseph Jerome Flowers of Oakland, Patterson secured a sentence of only three years in prison, even though both men were caught on camera committing the crime. Edwards also provides an update on the case of 25-year-old Jason Gibson, who will be charged with the murder of police officer Brian Huff. Gibson avoided serious jail time throughout his violent criminal career, largely due to the so-called "rocket docket" in Wayne County, Michigan, an overloaded court system that uses plea bargains to process offenders as quickly as possible.
