John Popp wanted to see what's new and interesting at the NRA National Firearms Museum, and Senior Curator Phil Schreier says they just walked in the door! They're Russian Berdan infantry rifles, designed by Hiram Berdan of the U.S. Volunteer Sharpshooters Regiments in the Civil War. Phil shows off the Type 1 trapdoor action, replaced by bolt action in Type 2. Colt made about 30,000 of Type 1. Three million Type 2 were made in Russia and saw action through WW1.
