John Cylc: Fear of Guns is a Refusal to Take Responsibility for Self-Defense
Veteran and gun rights activist John Cylc writes at The Federalist about the irrational fear of firearms, hoplophobia. More than a fear of firearms, it is a fear of taking responsibility – responsibility for one's own self-defense. John says that hurting others is against the law. But those laws only define the crimes in our legal system; they do not stop them. Criminals or the deranged pay no attention to any laws. It is up to us to stop these people when they mean to do us harm. He explains that much of the gun debate is about the unwillingness of people to acknowledge that they may someday find themselves in danger. Originally aired on Cam & Co 03/06/17.
