Dave Kopel: Czechs Seeks Constitutional Amendment to Keep and Bear Arms
In response to an EU firearms directive that would ban semi-automatic firearms, Czech interior minister Milan Chovanec proposed a constitutional amendment to guarantee the right to keep and bear arms. Gun owners were outraged when the directive was proposed. The Independence Institute's Dave Kopel says that Czech opposition has resulted in the directive being charged to a ban on magazines over 10 rounds and a tight regime for controlling semi-autos. Dave describes how the NRA saved the Second Amendment in the U.S. over the last half-century, and the example it sets for the world as hoped by the Founding Fathers.
