Past NRA President, Host

LtCol Oliver North is the Past President of the National Rifle Association of America. He is a combat decorated U.S. Marine, best-selling author, syndicated columnist, and former host of "War Stories" on the Fox News Channel. He is the host of the new NRATV series, American Heroes.

He served as a platoon commander during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal and two Purple Heart medals. From 1981-1986 he served as deputy director for political-military affairs at the National Security Council, where he led the hunt for those responsible for the 1983 Beirut bombing that killed 299 American and French military personnel.

Assigned to the National Security Council staff in the Reagan administration, LtCol North was the United States government's counter-terrorism coordinator from 1983-1986 and was described by the President Reagan as "an American hero."
