Dave Kopel: Age Bans For Young Adults Unconstitutional
Besides violating the laws of some cities and states, a ban on the sale of long guns to young adults is unconstitutional. Research Director Dave Kopel of the Independence Institute says the 2008 Heller Supreme Court decision reiterated that adults 18-20 were not excluded at the time of the ratification of the Second Amendment. They have been included in over 100 militias dating back to 1631. Adults old enough to marry are old enough to choose the tools to defend their households. Dave says there is a stronger argument for lowering the drinking age to 18 than there is to raise the age of long gun ownership to 21. Originally aired on Cam & Co 03/13/18.
