Dave Kopel: Inflated Stats Used to Promote Gun Control
Research Director Dave Kopel of the Independence Institute writes in The Wall Street Journal about conflated statistics cited by gun control activists to further their agenda. There are an average of around twenty mass shootings per year, with four qualifying as mass public shootings. In contrast, Sen. Chris Murphy claimed there were close to 300 so far this year. They are conflating incidents like that in Las Vegas with gang crime and domestic violence. Dave says that in contrast, crime has been down for more than two decades, but a Pew Research survey indicates that only 12 percent of Americans realize this. They are being terrified by wildly inflated figures. Originally aired on Cam & Co 10/10/17.
