The recent terrorist attacks in Europe have prompted member states of the European Union to propose even tighter gun control rules. Although semi-automatic rifles would still be legal for private ownership, medical checks would be required before getting a license to buy a firearm, and online sales would be curtailed. Dave Kopel, research director of the Independence Institute, says that most U.S. stories are a repeat of an EU press release. Things are not going in the right direction, but it is far from finalized. A better source of information is the pro-gun group, Firearms United.
