On this edition of Curator's Corner, John Popp joins National Firearms Museum Senior Curator Phil Schreier to discuss a rare Snubnose Colt Fitz Special. The gun was designed by John Henry Fitzgerald, Colt's best salesman and a former police officer. Starting with the base of a Model 1909 Army Revolver, Fitz shortened the barrel to two inches. To make sure it wouldn't snag or catch on a holster or jacket, he got rid of the exposed hammer. Fizt also removed the knob off the ejector knob and dumped the trigger guard.
