On this edition of Curator's Corner, National Firearms Museum Senior Curator Phil Schreier talks with John Popp about the Heckler & Koch MP5 from Die Hard 2 (1990) that is currently on display as part of the Hollywood Guns Exhibit. In the movie, a Special Forces team that is actually working with the bad guys, tricks the good guys by firing blanks at the terrorists. They then switch quickly to live bullets, identified by a different colored tape on the magazine. Schreier explains that in real life, such a switch would cause an HK MP5 to explode.
