On this edition of Curator's Corner, John Popp talks with NRA National Firearms Museum Senior Curator Phil Schreier about an 1853 Palmetto Armory Dragoon Pistol. The gun features a unique ramrod retention system to aid as its use as a horse pistol. The markings on the gun are those of the Palmetto Armory, however Schreier tells a story of the gun's manufacturer buying parts from other factories in the North and presenting them as created in South Carolina.
